Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, says Parliament will not tolerate harsh and negative criticism from the public.

According to him, the house will not treat kindly anybody who rains insult on the legislative body.

He was reacting to derogatory comment from a leading member of the pressure group OccupyGhana, Sydney Casely-Hayford, who said at a summit that  the legislative arm of government makes ‘stupid’ laws for the country.

The OccupyGhana member has however apologized to Parliament for his unguided comments.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase says the public is free to comment on the activities of Parliament and offer constructive criticism but MPs will not accept insults.

He also added that the leadership of the house will meet over the issue to determine the way forward.
