Sammy Crabbe, embattled 2nd Vice Chair of the ruling NPP,  has disclosed that the Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Oquaye, is not in talking terms with him because he supported Sarah Adwoa Safo to win the NPP primaries in the Dome Kwabenya Constituency and subsequently entered Parliament as MP for the area.

According to Sammy Crabbe, he played an instrumental role in ensuring Adwoa Safo’s victory in the primaries and the elections and that has created a bad blood between himself and Professor Oquaye.
In the 2011 NPP primaries ahead of the 2012 presidential and parliamentary general elections, Sarah Adowa Safo beat the son of the current Speaker, Mike Oquaye Jnr and subsequently won the elections to become the MP for the area.

Speaking in an interview with Accra based Class FM, today February 21, 2018, Sammy Crabbe said he is not worried about the outcome following his conviction that he has been able to help Sarah Adowa Safo succeed in her political ambitions.

He said: “Now Ghana celebrates Adwoa Safo and I doff off my hat for her, she has done so well. If Sammy Crabbe had not stood his ground for her, we wouldn’t be seeing this today. Up to now, the Speaker of Parliament, Mike Oquaye, is not on good terms with me because of Adwoa Safo but I don’t care because I can sit down and say that I saw potential, I stood my ground and I created the space."

In December 2015 National Executive Committee affirmed the decision of the party’s Disciplinary Committee to suspend its Second National Vice-Chairman, Sammy Crabbe and the General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong. The decision to suspend the two was taken after members of the NEC held a crucial meeting on the matter at the party’s headquarters in Accra.

Long before the NEC meeting came to a close, some supporters of the party converged outside the party’s headquarters popping champagne in a jubilant mood, apparently in anticipation of the announcement.
Sammy Crabbe who dismissed his suspension as illegal headed for Court to get him reinstated but an Accra High Court dismissed his suit in 2016.

According to the judge, Justice Sir Dennis Adjei, the National Disciplinary Committee of the NPP has jurisdiction to hear and punish anyone who had been found to have breached some rules of the party.

Sammy Crabbe has however stated despite respecting the court’s decision, he still held the view that his suspension is ridiculously illegal.

Meanwhile, Suspended 2nd vice-Chair of the incumbent NPP, Sammy Crabbe, has joined the Chairmanship race of the governing party with the mantra “build a party for all,”
