National Security has uncovered an audio-visual device secretly planted in the office of the Land and Natural Resource Minister, John Peter Amewu. The device, a recorder which can pick low volume sounds about 30 metres away with a data storage unit and a transmitting unit, was pinned to the back of the Coat of Arms hanging in the minister’s office.

It is unclear why the device has been planted in the office of the minister but the National Security Operatives are investigating the incident to established who, why and for how long the device has been planted in the office.

The lands minister has been in the news for the past few months leading the fight against illegal mining in the country.

The sector minister Peter Amewu said he is not perturb about the presence of the device as most of the discussions held in the office are information for public consumption.
