Policy think tank, Strategic Thinkers Network-Africa (STRANEK-Africa), is calling for an independent inquiry into the Oslo Chancery saga.
It will be recalled that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2018 announced its intention to establish a full embassy in Oslo, Norway.
Following the Ministry’s submission to the Parliamentary Select Committee on Foreign Affairs, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu raised a red alert regarding the discrepancies in the purchased price.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs defended the purchase of the building and Minister for the sector Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey subsequently suspended the purchase of the building.
Not much has been done to get to the root of the issue according to STANEK.
They also believe that President Akufo-Addo and his government have shown little or no interest in investigating the issue and therefore they want an independent body to be formed and do an inquiry.
In a statement signed by their Director Emmanuel Osei they asked series of questions about the saga and are demanding answers which they believe will only be given by an independent investigator.
Below is their statement
