Zlatan Ibrahimovic wants to remain at Manchester United next season

Zlatan Ibrahimovic wants to stay at Manchester United next season and will hold talks with the club this summer about his future, according to his agent Mino Raiola.

The 35-year-old enjoyed a fine first season at Old Trafford, scoring 28 goals in 46 appearances, before sustaining "significant knee ligament damage" during United's 2-1 Europa League win over Anderlecht in April and was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

Ibrahimovic subsequently underwent surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, though it is as yet unclear what the precise timetable for his recovery will be.

The Swede has been rehabilitating in Pittsburgh under the care of the surgeons who operated on him and Raiola is adamant the striker will return next season, preferably at United if the club are open to extending his contract for another season.

Asked if Ibrahimovic wants to remain at United, Raiola told Talksport: "Oh, yes. He wants to stay in England he wants to stay at the top and if he sees that he can be a valuable asset for Manchester United, then why not Manchester United?

"He can be a valuable asset for some other top clubs also. But I think it is respectful to talk to Manchester United and to see what all parties want."

Ibrahimovic was in Stockholm to watch United defeat his former club Ajax in the Europa League final.

The forward was driven through the Friends Arena stadium on a buggy with his injured knee outstretched but cast his crutches aside to join his team's celebrations after the final whistle.

He posed happily with the 33rd major trophy of his career after the final whistle and was cryptic when asked about his future by the media afterwards, telling Sky Italia he would "be back in a few weeks".

That update goes against reports in the national media that he is likely to be out until 2018.

LA Galaxy were interested in bringing Ibrahimovic to the MLS prior to his knee injury. If he were to decide to join a team in the MLS he would have until March 2018 before the beginning of the regular season.

How his recovery progresses is likely to impact his future but Raiola insists he has still has plenty of options.

"We have a lot of offers and ideas and we have to evaluate them," Raiola said. "He has had a fantastic time at Manchester United and it is up to the club and myself to see what the future brings.

"For now, it is important he recovers well and then we will see."

Riyad Mahrez asks to leave Leicester City

Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez has asked to leave the club.

The Algeria international joined the Foxes from Le Havre in January 2014 and helped them secure promotion to the Premier League in the 2014/15 season.

Mahrez also played a key role in helping them secure the title last season, scoring 18 goals in 39 matches in all competitions.

But after a disappointing league campaign that saw Claudio Ranieri lose his job and Craig Shakespeare handed the task of keeping them in the top-flight, Mahrez feels it is time to move on.

"Out of the huge admiration and respect I hold for Leicester City Football Club I wanted to be totally honest and transparent with them and have therefore informed the club that I feel now is the time for me to move on," the 26-year-old said in a statement.

"I had a good discussion with the chairman last summer and we agreed at that time that I would stay for another year in order to help the club as best as I could following the transition of winning the title and in the Champions League.

"However, I am fiercely ambitious and feel that now is the time to move on to a new experience.

"I've always enjoyed a good relationship with the chairman and everyone at the club, and I hope I have been able to repay the faith shown to me by my performances and commitment on the pitch during my time here.

"I've had the four best seasons of my career at Leicester and have loved every moment. I feel immense pride to have been a part of what we have achieved during my time at the club, culminating in becoming Premier League champions.

"The relationship I share with the club and our amazing fans is something I will treasure forever and I truly hope they will understand and respect my decision."

Luciano Spalletti leaves Roma

Roma have parted company with head coach Luciano Spalletti after finishing second in Serie A this season.

The announcement came after Roma beat Genoa 3-2 on Sunday as Diego Perotti's last-minute winner secured automatic qualification for the Champions League.

Spalletti joined Roma for a second spell in January 2016.

"We would like to thank Spalletti for his hard work and his significant contribution since his return," said Roma President Jim Pallotta.

"Under his stewardship this season, the team has won more Serie A points and scored more goals than any side in Roma's history. We wish Luciano all the best for the future.

"This club is on a constant path of growth and that will continue with the appointment of a new coach who shares our values and philosophy and who will continue to help us take AS Roma forward."

Spalletti, 58, coached Roma from 2005 to 2009, twice winning the Coppa Italia, before he resigned and joined Russian club Zenit St Petersburg.

The Italian, whose contract ran out at the end of this season, has faced regular criticism over Roma legend Francesco Totti's playing time.

Totti, 40, retired on Sunday after 25 years at the club, coming on in the 54th minute in the win over Genoa to a standing ovation.

I am ready to Play for Ghana again- Dan Quaye

Former Hearts of Oak and current Great Olympics defender Dan Quaye says he is ever ready to represent the nation again if he is called up to the Black Stars of Ghana.

The 32 year old defender says he still has a lot to offer the nation if given the opportunity.

"I am ever ready to play for the Black Stars again, when you look at Egyptian goalkeeper El Hadari even at age 40, he was still playing for the Pharoahs, I am even fortunate that i only record minor injuries."

Dan Quaye was a member of the 23-man squad who made history representing Ghana at the first ever World cup in Germany 2006, but the right back has struggled to get back into the team after the tournament.

The former Hearts of Oak defender who had spells in China believes he has an unfinished business with the senior national team.

Arsene Wenger agrees two-year Arsenal deal: Club announcement tomorrow

Arsene Wenger has agreed a new two-year deal keeping him at Arsenal until 2019.

The Mirror claim the contract has been finalised and an announcement will be made tomorrow.

Further agreements regarding summer transfer plans and a reshuffle of Wenger's backroom staff are said to have taken place during today's board meeting.

The new contract is said to have been on the table long before last weekend's FA Cup final win over Chelsea.

However, the result has helped get many supporters back on side, providing the perfect platform to unveil Wenger's new deal.

The Mirror say Arsene Wenger held discussions with the club on Saturday and everything is now in place to make an official announcement.

The 67-year-old will remain at Arsenal until at least 2019, meaning he will have two more seasons in north London.

Majority shareholder Stan Kroenke has been fully supportive of Wenger, despite calls from fans to oust the long-serving manager this season.

And when the American took control of the club outright in 2011 he lavished praise on the Frenchman, calling Wenger one of the best managers in world football.

"Arsene is one of my favourite people I have met in the last 20 years," Kroenke told The Telegraph.

"He is a great person and I love the way he handles himself. I love his focus. He is a very intelligent guy.

"You can talk to him about anything and, when he starts talking to people, I really love to listen to him. He should hold seminars he is so good at it.

"I have tremendous confidence in him. He is one of the great managers in the world.”

Barcelona: Ernesto Valverde replaces Luis Enrique as manager

Barcelona have appointed Ernesto Valverde as their head coach on a two-year deal, with an option for a third.

Former Barca forward Valverde announced last week that he was leaving Athletic Bilbao after four years in charge.

He replaces Luis Enrique, who revealed in March that he would leave the club - who finished second in La Liga - at the end of his three-year contract.

Enrique led Barcelona to the treble in his first season, the domestic double in 2016 and the Copa del Rey this year.

They beat Alaves 3-1 in Sunday's final - his last match in charge.

Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu praised 53-year-old Valverde's "ability, judgement, knowledge and experience", adding: "He promotes young players and he plays the Barca way."

Valverde's presentation as Barca's new coach will take place on Thursday.

Chelsea, Utd interested in Perisic

Chelsea are interested in signing Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan, according to Sky in Italy.

Manchester United have made an opening offer of £36m but Inter value Perisic at between £48m and £52m.

The Croatia international winger joined Inter from Wolfsburg in 2015 and has enjoyed a fine season in Serie A, contributing 10 goals and six assists.

The 28-year-old's contract runs until 2020 but Inter are reportedly planning to revamp their squad this summer and may be willing to part with Perisic for the right price.

United manager Jose Mourinho revealed on Saturday that the club's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is in charge of negotiating deals this summer.

Mourinho told Sky Sports News HQ: "He (Woodward) knows since March, who I want, what I want, how much I want.

"He knows everything since March and now it's for him to work, because he will have holidays in August and I will be working."
