Ghana coach Bashir Hayford says the Black Queens 1-2 defeat to Mali is partly caused by poor officiating at the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.

Bassira Toure struck twice to help Mali recorded a 2-1 victory over Ghana on Tuesday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Referee Leticia Viana denied the host nation a couple of penalty appeals as she was booed by the home supporters after the final whistle of the clash.

And according to the Black Queens tactician, the woeful performance of the referee shrank the confidence of the ladies and thereby contributing to the defeat.

“Some of the decisions of the referee were highly disappointing,” he said.

“It sort of broke the girls and I think it’s an area for the organizers to look into.”

Ghana face Cameroon in the last game of Group A on Friday, November 23.
