The week-long third edition of the Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations (AFCON 2018) will roll off this Saturday at the shores of the Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt.
The competition will run from December 8 to 14 and will act also as a qualification to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2019 that will take place in Paraguay.
The eight participants in the 2018 AFCON Beach Soccer were pooled in two groups A and B. A has the hosts, Egypt, Morocco, Côte d'Ivoire and 2015 champions, Madagascar.
Group B has Cecafa representatives, Tanzania, the two most successful teams in the competition, reigning champions, Senegal, and two-time winners, Nigeria, as well as Libya in the AFCON Beach Soccer.
The Beach Soccer tournament, like all other CAF competitions, will be played in a mixed format league with the group phase first then the knockout rounds and classifications playoffs.
