Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is "likely" to miss the rest of the season with a thigh injury, the Gunners have confirmed.

The midfielder picked up the problem in Arsenal's 3-0 away loss to Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park early this month and after seeing a specialist, it has been decided he needs time to recover.

Partey missed the Gunners' 2-0 home defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend.

Giving an update on the Ghanaian, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said 'the news that we got after a lot of assessments is not great.'

"Yes, the news that we got after a lot of assessments is not great. It’s not looking very positive for his availability this season, but we’ll have to wait and see because he’s trying to get back as quickly as possible, but at the moment we are not very optimistic about it," Arteta revealed ahead of Arsenal game against Southampton.

Thomas Partey was recently crowned Arsenal’s Player of the Month for February for the very first time.

The Ghanaian international finished with 49 percent of the votes beating off competition from Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka.
