Asamoah Gyan has apologized for using the word 'nonsense' in reaction to Majeed Ashimeru's exclusion from the Black Stars squad ahead of the Nigeria showdown.

According to Gyan, who is Ghana's all-time scorer with 51 goals, he is sorry for his choice of words, adding that he was taken over by his emotions.

Nonetheless, Gyan maintains that the Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru should have made the Black Stars squad for the World Cup playoff games against Nigeria.

“I still insist that Ashimeru deserves to be in this current Black Stars BUT am sorry for using the word “ Nonsense “ in my statement so I unreservedly withdraw that word, I was carried by my emotions. Go Ghana” Asamoah Gyan tweeted.

Asamoah Gyan had earlier descended heavily on the technical team of the Black Stars after Majeed Ashimeru was snubbed for the Nigeria encounter this week.

He believes the former WAFA player is currently the best midfielder in Ghana after Arsenal Thomas Partey. Gyan seems to be struggling to understand why the player wasn't named in the Black Stars squad for the FIFA World Cup playoffs against Nigeria.

In a post on Tuesday morning, Gyan said "this nonsense must stop."
