Christian Atsu played full throttle in Newcastle United triumph over Huddersfield in the English Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Atsu, who played superbly for The Magpies last week against Wolves earned the trust of Rafael Benitez as the gaffer started the Ghanaian international and went on to complete 90 minutes of the game.

Salomon Rondon struck the only goal as Newcastle edged past Huddersfield to move six points clear of the Premier League relegation places and inflict a fourth successive defeat on the Terriers.

Against the run of play, Ayoze Perez and Javier Manquillo combined to set up Rondon on 55 minutes and the Venezuelan made no mistake from close range.

Huddersfield, however, dominated the contest, and both Philip Billing and Chris Lowe spurned notable opportunities on a frustrating afternoon for the hosts.

Yet, despite the unrelenting pressure, Newcastle stood firm to record a fourth win of the season. Huddersfield, who remain 18th, sit three points adrift of safety and have now lost nine of their last 13 league games.
