Black Queens are demanding unpaid bonuses that have piled up for the past three years ahead of the Women’s African Cup of Nations Championship(AWCON).

The Queens overpowered their Cameroonian counterparts 1-0 in Brazzaville to win gold for Ghana at the Pan-African games in 2015, but the Ministry of Youth and Sports has not paid the bonuses promised the ladies.

The national team officials are calling for the quick resolution of the bonus issue raised by the players to boost the morale of the players so that it would not affect the team’s performance in the tournament.

Following their victory in Brazzaville, they were supposed to receive $20,000 each, but the government wanted to pay them $2,000, which the players rejected and insisted that the government must pay $20, 000 to each player.

The delayed payment in the bonus resulted in a strong protest by the Black Queens players who refused to vacate the M-Plaza Hotel in Accra where they have lodged on their return from Congo three years ago until the intervention by the then GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi.
