Zambia Women National team put five past Equatorial Guinea to shoot to the top of Group B and start their 2018 Ghana Women Africa Cup of Nations campaign on a winning note.

The Copper Queens went into the game without their captain Barbara Banda who was suspended for the match after she accumulated two yellow cards in qualifiers.

Zambia did not, however, relent as they started their game strong and after 6 minutes they were one nil up thanks to a beautiful free-kick from Grace Chanda.

Zambia took control of the match with Equatorial Guinea getting a few chances but Hazel Nali was up to the task. Two minutes to halftime Irene Lungu doubled the lead with another free-kick.

In the second stanza, the Copper Queens only needed 13 minutes to make it three. Rachel Kundananji finishing off a rebound after Mary Mwakapila's initial shot was saved.

It turned from bad to worse for Guinea four minutes after Mary Mwakapila was brought down inside the box and she stepped up and made no mistake from 18 yards out.

Kundananji could have made it five following another penalty for Zambia but her spot kick was poorly taken and easily felt with.

Kundananji finally grabbed her brace three minutes from time as she put the ball in an empty following some good work from Mwakapila, 5-0 the match ended.

Zambia will face Nigeria in their second game on Wednesday with a chance to qualify with a game to spare.
