Betway Ghana launches 'Talent Search' project

Sports betting outfit, Betway Ghana has launched a "Talent Search" football event aimed at hunting for talents for clubs and the national teams.
They event, scheduled to run throughout the month of July would see one person emerge as the ultimate winner.  Several players would be given the opportunity to get signed by teams across the continent.
 
Its opened to players between ages 18 to 25 and participants could  pick up a form at radio stations across the country for free to get registered for the event.
 
Speaking at the launch, Marketing Manager at Betway, Kwabena Oppong Nkrumah, explained that, the event is the first of its kind a betting company in Ghana and forms part of their effort to discover and nurture talents for the country.
 
The event he said, would move across the country, starting from Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi and Koforidua.
 
"We intend to get talents for the national team by creating the platform for them to showcase their skills,"he stated.
 
Sixteen players he said would be camped after the selection process to play in front of coaches for a possible signing while the ultimate winner that would be announced after the camping would have a long term trial contract with a team.
 
Operations Manager at Betway, Rex Danquah added that, the outfit also wish to connect more to the communities within which they operate.
 
"We started with bringing coaches and players from West Ham to assist local coaches and players and also held the Easter Gala which was the lead to the Talent Search,"he stated.
 
Ambassador for the event, Stephen Appiah said he is certain more talents would be discovered during the event.
 
He asked all participants to be confident and approach the event with hopes of achieving their dreams of becoming professional footballers.
 
The Ghana League Clubs Association(GHALCA) and the Ghana Football Association(GFA) also pledged support for the project.
