Black Maidens trainer Evans Adotey has said that he is overly excited after beating New Zealand in the final game of group A at the female U-17 World Cup.

The Black Maidens defeated New Zealand 2-0 on Tuesday night thanks to a brace from captain Mukarama Abdulai.

The result has kept Ghana's 100% record intact after winning all three matches in the group phase of the tournament.

Evans Adotey, former coach of Medeama SC coach, heaped praise and congratulated the girls for the victory.

"Three games, nine points. I am happy, very very happy. I will first congratulate my ladies for making Ghana and myself proud, "I am happy for myself and for Ghana," says Evans Adotey.

He, however, admitted the girls started the first half slowly but played with much intensity in the second half to ensure the victory.

"Of course we had a slow start in the first half, we entered the second half in a very competitive manner. So no wonder we scored two late goals to win the game," coach Evans Adotey said.

Ghana, who have qualified for the last eight for the fourth consecutive time, will face Mexico in the quarter-finals on Sunday 25 November in Montevideo.
