Black Queens prepared to host and win - Bashiru Hayford

Ghana senior female team coach Bashiru Hayford has stated explicitly that the Black Queens have rigorously prepared for the 'host and win' the 2018 Africa Women's Cup of Nations (AWCON).


Ghana host the 2019 and the Black Queens are expected by most Ghanaians to host and win the tournament which kickstarts on Saturday.

The Black Queens will lock horns with Algeria in the opener on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium, a match Bashiru Hayford promised Ghanaian of a much-improved performance after the triumph over South Africa in a friendly match last week.

Coach Bashiru Hayford has again told Citi Sports that the Queens have prepared very well to host and win, and for him personally, winning an international trophy before his retirement would be astounding.

"We have these twin words, 'host and win', and we have prepared well to that," Bashiru told Citi Sports.

"We are trying to write history for the Queens and for every Ghanaian. It will raise my status as well if we are able to win it.

"If I get to win an international trophy like this before I retire, it will be amazing" He added.

Former female footballers notably, Adwoa Bayor has backed the Black Queens to make the 'host and win' theme a reality.
