Asante Kotoko Centre-back pair, Agyemang Badu and Ismail Abdul-Ganiyu, has been passed fit for the game at Nkana FC on Sunday.

The duo missed training on Saturday and Sunday because of injuries and resumed full training on Monday, two days before the team’s departure to Zambia for the CAF Confederation Cup matchday-three game at the Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.

Badu picked up a thigh injury in Kotoko’s 2-1 win against Zesco United in Kumasi last Wednesday, same as Abdul-Ganiyu, who also picked up a knock in his right knee.

The duo played the entire duration of the game but was made to sit out of training for two more days as the squad regrouped on Saturday from a two-day break that was given them after the victory on Wednesday.

“Badu and Ganiyu have been cleared to travel with the team to Zambia if they meet coach Akonnor’s selection criteria,” head of the Kotoko Medical Team, Jerry Pratt Newton, told Kotoko Express on Sunday. “They are strong enough to play if the coach wants to feature them in the game.”

Badu and Ganiyu have been pivotal to Kotoko’s run in the championship, having played in all the games thus far and proven to be an able defensive guard for the Porcupines.

Their availability thus comes as a major boost for coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor, whose side lies 3rd in a group-c and aiming to grind result Nkana FC to enhance its chances of qualifying from the group.
