Arsenal’s season has been hit by a major setback with the news that Santi Cazorla will miss the rest of the campaign with an ankle problem.
The Spaniard plays an essential role linking midfield to attack but has not played since October.He was expected to return in March before another setback occurred.
The injury first occurred in Arsenal's Champions League match against Ludogorets, with manager Arsene Wenger optimistic Cazorla would miss no more than a couple of matches.
But his absence for the remainder of the season is a huge blow for the Gunners, with the battle to finish in the top four as intense as it has ever been.
It will also be a major source of frustration to Arsenal supporters that it is far from the first time they have expected a player to miss a short length of time, only for setbacks to rule them out for an extended period.
