Asante Kotoko coach, C.K. Akonnor, has stated he is baffled by the player's performance in the first department of the game in the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors unbeaten run the CAF Confederation Cup was halted yesterday when Sudanese Al Hilal defeated them in Omdurman.

A 40th-minute strike form Waleed Bakhet Hamid in Sudan ensured the Reds opening game in Confederation Cup after an 11-year absence tasted defeat.

According to the ex-AshantiGold coach, the players should have performed better due to the instruction given to them and he further opined that in matches of this magnitude players need to stay alert to avoid cheap goals.

"My boys didn't play to my expectation in the first half and conceded a goal that was avoidable. We expressed ourselves well in the 2nd half but couldn't get the needed equalizer" - he said.

The Reds will take on Group C leaders Zesco United in their next fixture on February 13 at the Baba Yara Stadium.
