Black Queens head coach Bashiru Hayford is elated with the improvement of his outfit after their win against the Bayana Bayana of South Africa on Sunday evening.

The Black Queens defeated South Africa 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium to end their preparation for the upcoming 2018 Africa Women's Cup of Nations (AWCON).

Forward Samira Suleman headed home in the 21st minute to give Bashir Hayford's girls their first in three pre-tournament friendlies after a loss and a draw to Zambia and Kenya respectively.

Black Queens jubilate

After the victory, the gaffer expressed his happiness over his 'improved' side and assured Ghanaians of an even better performance on matchday 1 of the 2018 Africa Women's Cup of Nations (AWCON).

“I think you clapped and clapped and clapped because females playing football like that I think it is amazing.

“Yes it is improvement by improvement. First match, second match and this is the third match. Saturday you will see a different set up and a different performance for everybody to cheer up” he added.

The flagship women's tournament in Africa starts next Saturday.

Ghana will tackle Algeria in the opener on Saturday at the same venue whilst South Africa take on reigning champions Nigeria in their opening fixture at the Cape Coast stadium on Sunday.
