After making it to two nations cup and receiving several call ups without playing any competitive game, Edwin Gyimah has been finally overlooked in Kwesi Appiah's 30 man squad to face Ethiopia, Mexico and USA.

The former Orlando Pirates defender was criticized after the 2017 AFCON as he could not feature in a single game despite receiving several call-ups.

With Kwesi Appiah's ambition of breathing new life into the Black Stars team, Gyimah might not be considered as new players have been introduced into the team.

The 26-year-old now plays for Swedish second division side Helsignborgs IF, after his contract was terminated by Pirates.

Surprisingly, Christian Atsu and Mubarak Wakaso have also been left out of the team to make way for names such as Lumor Agbenyenu, Mohammed Abu, Godsway Donyoh and Kingsley Sarfo.

Jerry Akaminko has also made a return to the team. He would hope to reclaim his spot in the defense alongside Rashid Sumaila.

Ghana will play Ethiopia in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers on June 11 before facing Mexico and the USA on June 28 and July 1 respectively in friendly games.
