Former England footballer Paul Gascoigne has been charged for sexually assaulting a lady on August 20, 2018.

The football legend is expected to appear before the Newton Aycliffe magistrates court on 11 December after the British Transport Police confirmed the charge on the one account of sexual assault.

The 51-year old became more popular in 1990 where England managed to reach the Semi-final in the World Cup tournament.

"Paul Gascoigne... was charged via postal requisition with one count of sexual assault by touching, contrary to Section 3 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003. The charge relates to an incident on board a train on 20 August this year. He is due to appear in court next month charged in connection with the sexual assault of a woman on board a train from York to Durham.” A spokeswoman for British Transport Police said.

Gascoigne won 57 caps for the Three Lions and was regarded as one of the most talented English midfielders. He has battled alcoholism since retiring in fourteen years ago.
