A Harry Kane goal for Tottenham was not enough as they succumbed to a shock 2-1 away loss to a spirited Southampton side on Saturday.Â
Spurs, fresh from qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Wednesday, controlled the match from the start with a flurry of good chances coming their way.

Red hot Harry Kane finally opened the scoring for the away side in the 26th minute, slotting it home after a delicious cross from Dele Alli.
Mauricio Pochettino's men failed to capitalize on their numerous clear cut chances that came their way and went into the break with their slim 1-0 lead.Â

Southampton got their equalizing goal in the 76th minute when Stuart Armstrong produced a great pass to find Yann Valery inside the penalty area to rifle a shot past Hugo Lloris into the back of the net.
James Ward-Prowse stunning free kick.Â
The home side got the second goal six minutes later when James Ward-Prowse scored a beautiful free kick – bending it into the top left corner to the delight of the home fans.
The defeat, Spurs third loss in five games, leaves Mauricio Pochettino's men just three points ahead of Manchester United with their top four hopes in serious danger.Â
