Former Ghana U17 star Awudu Issaka has cited the watching of European football by upcoming footballers as one of the reasons the country is losing its old pattern of playing style.
Issaka in an interview on Asempa FM lamented, that upcoming footballers only focus on watching and learning skills from European football to the detriment of the old system of football exhibited by some great player in Ghana.
"The upcoming footballers need to research about the playing style of their predecessors and learn from it,"
"Now all they do is watch European football, its either they are watching Messi or someone else and you can see the African way of playing football is gradually fading,"
"We have enough talents in Ghana but what we lack is the personnel to guide them, I believe with proper coaching we are going to see the Abedi Pele and Polo replicas again".He told Asempa FM.
The Ex player talked about the old pattern of player which was a combition of skills and power to churn out postive results and win laurels for the country.
Ghana has found it increasingly difficult to produce players to challenge for continental and International trophies with the last major trophy being the U20 World Cup won in Egypt.
Issaka started playing football at the youth teams of Asante Kotoko before he moved to Prampram Mighty Royals FC in Ghana's second division, where he already played for the first team at the age of fifteen.
He also played for RSC Anderlecht, French club AJ Auxerre and German Bundesliga club TSV 1860 München among others.

He played for the Ghana under-17 team in the FIFA World Youth Championship in 1995 in Ecuador.
Issaka also took part in the FIFA World Youth Championship 1997 in Malaysia, where Ghana finished on the fourth position.
