Former Black Stars forward, Augustine Arhinful has reacted after Kevin-Prince Boateng completed his loan deal to FC Barcelona.

Barcelona completed the signing of Sassuolo forward Kevin-Prince Boateng on a six-month loan deal.

The Blaugrana needed a replacement for Munir El Haddadi, and have now made the Ghana international their first January signing.

Rumors of Barca’s interest in Boateng became rife in the early hours of Monday and, by evening, the 31-year-old was announced as a player of the Catalan side and he was unveiled at the Camp Nou this morning.

However, in an exclusive interview with Ashh FM in Kumasi, Arhinful stated that he was not surprised after hearing the ex-AC Milan star move to FC Barcelona.

"I wasn't surprised at all when I heard that Kevin-Prince Boateng is joining Barcelona because they had their own reasons for signing him".

It is believed that Boateng will be a backup to Luis Suarez but is expected to give the squad the much-needed depth as Barca tries to challenge on all fronts but Arhinful is urging Ghanaians to solidly support Boateng for playing time at the Blaugrana.

"I think Kevin is guaranteed of winning a trophy even if he doesn't get more playing time at Barcelona so I will urge all Ghanaians to pray for him in getting more playing time"

"For now the benefits we as Ghanaians will get is that Kevin is being addressed as a Former Black Stars player in every media house both locally and foreign which I believe will lift the name Ghana high"

The former AshantiGold talisman also touched based on whether Kwesi Appiah and his technical team need the services of the Barcelona newbie.

"We must first ask Kevin whether he still wants to get back into the Senior National team (Black Stars) before we start talking about that.

Boateng is expected to form part of the Barca squad for tomorrow's Copa del Rey clash against Sevilla.
