Week Two of the 2017 Ghana Premier League got underway across the various centers of the country and can be described as a successful weekend of football on the local scene.

It was also a weekend where the big teams were denied three points while individual brilliance was displayed by some players.

Though the first hat-trick of the season came from Hans Kwofie of AshantiGold, fewer goals were scored as compared to the first week.

Accra Hearts of Oak were unable to find their first win of the season as they were held to a goalless draw by Medeama while Ashanti Kotoko also settled for a draw with Berekum Chelsea.

Kotoko however won their first game and the draw gives them four points heading into the third week but Hearts can only boost of two points after two games.

AshantiGold were big winners of the week as they thrashed Accra Great Olympics 3-1 on Saturday at Obuasi.

Aduana Stars jumped on top of the league table after recording their second win as they beat Elmina Sharks 1-0 in Elmina.

It was Godfred Saka’s goal that separated the two sides and gave Elmina Sharks a taste of defeat in the Premier League as they were hoping to make a grand entry into elite football.

Liberty Professionals bounced back from their defeat to Kotoko in their first match to defeat Inter Allies 2-0 in Dansoman.

Elsewhere, Dwarfs were defeated 2-0 by WAFA in Sogakope as the academy side are looking forward to a successful season.

However, defending champions Wa All Stars and Bechem United have not played a game yet following their continental engagements.

Supporters would be looking forward to another exciting weekend of football this weekend as the 2017 season is gradually taking shape.
