Black Stars midfielder, Ebenezer Ofori, have been denied a new contract at New York City FC  and will have to find a new club for the rest of the 2018/2019 season.

Ofori joined the Yankee Stadium outfit from German Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart in February this year with an option to buy but he will return to his parent club despite making 27 league appearances scoring one goal.

Ofori was one of 7 players whose contracts were declined by New York City FC and the team’s sporting director former US international, Claudio Reyna, expressed his gratitude to all the players who were leaving the club.

“While we continue to have discussions with a number of these players ahead of the 2019 season, we would like to sincerely thank all the players for their contributions to the Club. Saying goodbye is always difficult but we wish each of them the very best in their careers.”

NYCFC officially released a press statement on Thursday, November 29 that the aforementioned duo and seven others will leave the club as their options for a contract extension has been declined

It is unclear what the midfielder's fortunes will be as he technically returns to Stuttgart since the season is still in session.

Ofori has previously featured for Ghanaian outfit New Edubiase as well as Swedish champions AIK.
