How Kotoko whip Gold Stars 5-0 - Prosper Narteh explains

Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has explained how his outfit capitalized on the lapses of Gold Stars to maintain their lead at the top.

The Porcupine Warriors over the weekend produced a magnificent performance to thrash the Miners 5-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

According to the former WAFA coach, his players put in a good shift to come out victorious.

He lauded them for making Gold Stars pay for the mistakes they made during the game.

"The performance was okay, we were able to keep the ball and create spaces," he said.

They came too high up on us some of the times and left a lot of spaces behind them and we were able to send in those long accurate passes behind them to create those chances to score.

Gold Stars is a very good side, a tactically drilled side especially in the middle of the park and scoring 5-0 it tells the workrate the players put into the game that is the determination, discipline and confidence with which they approached this game."

Kotoko on Sunday Bibiani Gold Stars 5-0 to maintain their place at the top of the Ghana Premier League table.

Cameroonian Mfegue Omgba broke the deadlock in the 31st minute when he tapped the ball into the net after Gold Stars goalkeeper Ernest Kusi fluffed a cross before lifting a lovely ball over the goalkeeper after being teed up by Mbella Etouga for the second goal.

The Porcupine Warriors went into the break with a 2-0 advantage – much to the delight of the roaring fans at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Back from recess, Augustine Agyapong added to the tally as he scored his first goal for the Reds with a long-range effort which deflected into the net in the 59th minute.

The League’s leading scorer Franck Mbella got his name on the score sheet - his 14th of the season from the penalty spot before Samuel Boateng wrapped things up four minutes from time.

The win gives Asante Kotoko an eight point lead against second placed Aduana FC with 14 games to end the season.
