Norwegian teenager Martin Odegaard has not given up on the hope of playing for the senior side of Real Madrid in future.

Odegaard was signed by the Los Blancos and made the first appearance in 2014/15 season but the young footballer did not make the impact that accompanied his high profile signing. He has spent loan stints with Vitesse in the Netherlands after not stamping his authority in Madrid senior team.

“I was hoping to have a place in Madrid. I trained all summer and played a few minutes, but in the end, the club and I decided that the best option for me was to play elsewhere.

“You have to be modest. How many 19-year-olds are in the Madrid team? The road is long and I have confidence in myself and I know I have to work hard, learn in each game and put minutes together. My final goal is clear: to play for the club and renewing my contract is a gesture that I take confidence from.” Odegaard told Marca.

Odegaard revealed that he is on serious learning in the Eredivisie and hopes to take his footballing ability to the next level there.

“I'm satisfied, I'm finding my way here. I'm only 19 and I want to understand better what the team and the coach want. I think I'm in the perfect place to take that next step.” he hoped.
