Former Ghana Football Association vice president, George Afriyie has stated that he understands the dynamics of football politics better than his opponents who have declared to contest for the GFA President seat.

Scores of football administrators have declared their intention to replace former GFA capo Kwesi Nyantakyi who has been banned from all football-related activities following an expose in which he was seen beaching FIFA's code of ethics.

MTN FA Cup chairman, Kurt Okraku, Tema Youth owner, Wilfred Osei Palmer, Phar Ranger's bankroller, Nana Yaw Amposnsah, former AshantiGold CEO, Cudjoe Fianoo, King Faisal owner, Alhaji Grusah have all declared their intention to replace Kwesi Nyantakyi.

The astute football administrator last year declared his intention to contest for the president seat and he reaffirmed his decision last Tuesday on Citi TV’s Face to Face program.

As part of preparations to the succeed embattled capo Kwesi Nyantakyi, George Afriyie toured the Brong Ahafo region to have relations with club owners and top officials.

According to George Afriyie, he understands the task that lies ahead and also has the backing of club owners.

"You need to be confident, you need to be bold and you need to be ready for the battle. Nobody points the left hand to his father's hometown," he told journalists in Sunyani on Thursday

"I understand football politics than many of the people who have expressed interest in contesting for the position.

"Like Sir John said, fear delegates. Nobody is saying that one will get 100% but you want to aspire to get 100%.

"There will be so much speculation in the air. But what I can tell you is that if you meet any of those seeking the high office of football, tell them to get to the club owners.

"The team was formed by somebody. If you are appointed to work, it does not mean the team belongs to you.

"We know how to get the votes and we'll work towards it. We are not sleeping and will work hard until is victory is achieved.

"In the coming weeks when the election roadmap is clear, we'll release the campaign team. We have a campaign team in place, a full campaign team. It's a blend of people from all walks of life but importantly 90% are football persons.

"There are some names that if you hear, your heart will pump. We have very strong pillars behind this campaign.

"In the coming days, the names will come up when the roadmap is clear.
