The EFA have appointed Italian referee Gianluca Rocchi to take charge of Pyramids’s highly anticipated encounter against Zamalek on Thursday.

The top of the table clash will take place at Petrosport on Thursday, January 24, with both sides aiming for the league title.

Italian referee Gianluca Rocchi will be in charge of the game and will be assisted by compatriots Alfonso Marrazzo, Fabrizio Posado, and Gianluca Manganiello.

Rocchi has taken charge of eight games in the Serie A this season, with the most recent one coming in Napoli’s 2-1 win over Lazio last weekend.

He also officiated three games in the 2018 World Cup, two in the Club World Cup, and the 2018 UEFA Super Cup final between Real Madrid and Man Utd.

The 45-year-old was brought in to take charge of the game after Pyramids demanded foreign referees for their games.

The EFA appointed Tunisian referees for their games in the last couple of months, but after poor refereeing performances, the club asked for European ones.
