Black Stars deputy coach Maxwell Konadu has jumped to the defends of Kwadwo Asamoah following his decision to pull out of Ghana squad due to injury.

The 29-year-old called on the Black Stars technical handlers to excuse him out of the crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia this month.

Many believe the Asamoah opted out due to the return of the Ayew brothers but coach Maxwell Konadu has rubbished such claims.
Konadu indicated that the technical team are aware of Asamoah’s predicament but as to the type of injury, they are yet to find out.

“We know he is injured but it’s his private issue, as to what kind of injury, we do not know,” Konadu told OTEC FM

“You cannot run a national team if you always come out with issues discussed with the players, we have to protect their privacy,”

The news has come as a surprise since Asamoah played full throttle when Inter Milan suffered a 4-1 defeat against Atlanta on Sunday in the Italian Serie A.
