Tema Chelsea emerged Champions of the Tema edition of the McDan Communities Champions League.

Tema Chelsea outclassed Tema Arsenal Babies as they beat them 2-0 at the TDC Park to emerge as victors.

Spectators, officials and media including a crew from BBC World Service Africa had barely settled when Chelsea took the lead with the opening strike after just one minute.

The calmly converted goal came from the boot of captain Emmanuel Asare.

At 2-0 down after only five minutes, Arsenal Babies responded by going all out to try and grab a goal but the game eventually ended in favour of Tema Chelsea.

13-year-old Chelsea captain Emmanuel Asare FC was adjudged Man of the Match for the second time in the competition and was also voted MVP of the tournament.

David Asare of Arsenal Babies came second with Great Palmer FC's Ebenezer Fameyeh (son of former Accra Hearts of Oak striker Joe Fameyeh) in third place.

The beautifully organised event was watched by some renowned personalities from various background including Kevin Titi Ofei (Temple Christian College), former Hearts of Oak assistant coach, Edward Nii Odoom, Mrs Rita Agyen Takyi (Ceo Active Minds Reading Club).

Speaking to the media, Chief Executive Officer of Books and Boots Academy, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah says they need to improve every week, appealing to the communities to get involved to make it great.

“Great thanks to the teams, managers and all who came to watch. We are learning because we haven’t done it to this level yet, we have so many communities to go and it is better than last week so I am happy because we need to improve.

“It is a good sign if we’re improving every week, hopefully by the time we hit week 5, 6, halfway through, it is going to be very good. I am very delighted with the level of discipline and competitiveness, the genuine age of the players and the turnout. This will stand out to be something great, once the communities get involved.”

Other teams that participated in the tournament were: Saint Joseph United, Future Heros, Super Abease Stars, Fhotizo Fc, Great Palmers and Great Ambassadors.

The McDan Communities Champions League is a partnership between Books & Boots Ghana (Academy) and the McDan Group of Companies.

The next community stop for the Books & Boots caravan will be SPINTEX Tespo Park on Saturday, September 29th 2018.
