Croatia sent Iceland packing as they beat them by 2-1 to top Group D at the ongoing Russia 2018 World cup

Croatia made massive changes, Luka Modric and Ivan Perisic were the only starters from the team that featured against Argentina with Iceland making only three changes.

Croatia did not do much as compared to their previous fixture. They dominated possession entirely.

Iceland, on the other hand, created chances through set pieces with their best effort coming in the dying minutes of the first half. It was Gunnarsson, whose shot was tipped wide!. The first half ended in stalemate.

Croatia started the second half strongly through Badelj who made an effort, which nicked the crossbar and went over the bar. A few munites later, Badelj pounced on a loose ball in the box and struck it home to put Croatia in the lead.

Iceland after conceding the goal improved their game and from that, got a penalty. A cross from the right side hit Lovren’s left arm.  Sigurdsson stood up to level the scoreline.

On the 90 mins. Perisic stood up and got the winning goal for Croatia. He went for power with his left foot only for Halldorsson to push the ball higher in the net.
