Ex-England boss Sam Allardyce, as well as former Tottenham star Jermaine Jenas, have highlighted Jordan Ayew’s costly mistake in Palace’s 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

The Black Stars forward failed to clear a ball in Palace’s defensive area that resulted in a goal to give Spurs the victory.

Analysing as TV pundits on BET, Allardyce pointed out Ayew’s error.

“Watch Milivojevic, he’s going crazy, ‘go on the head it’, he’s saying [to Ayew],” Allardyce stated.

Jenas added: “I’m not sure what’s going through Ayew’s mind, you have to attack that, you run, you jump, get whatever you can on it, get it clear and Milivojevic’s face says it all,” Jenas added.

Crystal Palace suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, with Juan Foyth scoring a second-half header from a Spurs corner.

The goal was made possible by terrible defending by Palace’s Jordan Ayew, as the Ghanian’s massive error exemplified his dreadful start to life at Selhurst Park.

In the 66th minute, Spurs whipped in a corner, and after a deflection off Luka Milivojevic, the ball popped into the air by the near post. Ayew, standing yards from the spinning ball, stood his ground and ball-watched as Foyth burst forward and nodded home uncontested.

After the Argentine wheeled away in celebration, the Palace players looked aghast in the direction of Ayew, pointing fingers and throwing their hands up in disbelief at the attacker’s mistake.

The Swansea loanee has scored a grand total of zero goals in the Premier League, contributing with just one assist in his opening nine matches. Ayew has undoubtedly been one of the Eagles’ worst signings this summer, barely making an impact in SE25.

The Ghanian handed Tottenham the victory with an inexcusable defensive lapse, making Jordan Ayew’s poor start in south London even worse.

Ayew is expected to lead Ghana in this weekend’s crucial 2019 AFCON Qualifier against Ethiopia on Sunday, November 18 in Addis Ababa.
