President Akufo-Addo has reiterated that his government will focus on the development of Ghana Sports in the State of the Nation Address read in Parliament on Thursday, February 8th.

He stated that the government is keen on passing the proposed National Youth and Sports Act and also focus on improving the nature of sports in the country.

"This year, we will continue the process of passing the Legislative Instruments of the National Youth and Sports Act,"

"We will pursue the enactment of the draft National Sports College Bill, and create a Sports Fund to improve sports development in the country." the President stated.

The President added that they are looking at constructing a number of football pitches in the Zongos and across the rest of the country, to aid in the revival of colts football and ensure the country produce talents like Abedi Pele and Tony Yeboah.

Renovation works has begun at the Accra Sports Stadium and it will help in the development of Sports in Ghana

The NPP prior to the 2016 elections promised to give sports a facelift in Ghana and have begun a major part of that as they have pumped GH¢ 12.5m in renovating the Accra Sports Stadium.
