Coach Avram Grant continued to lash out at the poor nature of the Port Gentil pitch at Gabon where Ghana played two opening matches of the Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON).

Ahead of the last group game against Egypt, the coach is eager to get a better pitch for the quarter finals.

Speaking to the media after Ghana’s win over Mali he said “to be honest, I do not want to play in this pitch. It’s not a pitch for football.”

According to him, it is no coincidence that the results in the group are also not encouraging. Ghana is on top with just two goals in two matches while Egypt has a goal.

But on his part, Ghana defender, Harrison Afful says the team must deliver despite the bad state of the pitch as they do not have a choice.

“This is Africa and such things happen. Everybody is playing on it and we do not have any option than to play and get results,” he stated.

He is optimistic that Ghana can win their next game against Egypt with their winning mentality as everything is well at the camp of the Black Stars.

“Every game is important and tough. We are ready for any team at the quarter finals and must win all our games,” he stated.

Afful committed a penalty in Ghana’s defeat to Egypt in their last game in the World Cup qualifiers ahead of the AFCON but the player said he has gotten over that mistake and ready to face Egypt.

“I won’t be the first and last to commit a penalty as it happens in the game sometimes. I have learnt from my mistakes and ready to face Egypt,” he stated.

Ghana has already qualified to the next stage of the competition but will face Egypt in their last game on Wednesday in a bid to stay on top and also for bragging rights.
