The Black Satellites of Ghana lost 1-0 to Nigeria in the opening match of the WAFU U-20 Championship campaign.


Ghana gave a very good account of themselves against Niger but fail to find the back of the net as they painfully lost 1-0 to Niger in Group B.

The first half was exciting as both outfits put on a decent performance with lots of chances unutilized as the first 45 minutes ended goallessly.

Niger emerged in the second half strongly and broke the deadlock in the early stage of the half. Amadou Sabo Mahamadou unleashed a shot to send Niger one up.

Ghana upped their performance and created decent chances but failed to find the net.

The Black Satellites will face nemesis, Nigeria in their second game of the tournament on Wednesday.
