Real Madrid will go head to head with Paris Saint-Germain tonight in one of the biggest games of the knockout stage in the UEFA Champions League.

From Ronaldo to Neymar, Sergio Ramos to Thiago Silva, we take a closer look at some of the key battles to expect in the game.

Achraf Hakimi vs Neymar

PSG forward Neymar

Real Madrid are without Dani Carvajal due to suspension so, unless Zidane opts to field a centre-back out of position, 19-year-old Hakimi is likely to be put up against the world’s most expensive player, Neymar.

The Brazilian superstar has seamlessly adapted to life at PSG following his summer move from Barcelona. In Ligue 1 he has shone, scoring 19 goals and assisting a further 12 in just 18 appearances.

In the Champions League, he has also made a difference, finding the net six times and teeing up four goals for team-mates in the group stages.

He has also completed more dribbles in this season’s competition (38) than any other player.

And if he goes up against Hakimi, who has made just 13 senior appearances for Los Blancos, Neymar will be confident of making an impression against the club he has been tipped to join in the next 18 months.

Hakimi featured in Real’s Champions League group games against Tottenham and proved himself a willing runner on the right flank.

Defensively, however, he was caught out of position on several occasions, especially during Spurs’ 3-1 win at Wembley.

Facing Neymar would be the biggest test of the Morocco international’s young career, which is why Zidane faces a selection dilemma at right-back.

Ronaldo vs PSG back four

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo will be a handful for the PSG defence. The World player of the year is currently the leading scorer in the competition and is a threat to every defence even at age 33.

This season he has struck 11 goals in 18 La Liga appearances, well down on his minimum goal-a-game average from previous years.

Yet in the crunch Champions League fixtures, Ronaldo is a different animal.

Probably Real Madrid line up

Last season he netted ten times in the knockout stages, which included hat-tricks in the quarter and semi-finals and a brace in the final victory against Juventus.

When the big games arrive the 33-year-old tends to turn up and in some style.

He flexed his trademark muscles at the weekend by scoring a treble against Real Sociedad and has seven in his last four matches.

Ronaldo has found form at just the right moment, which will be a worry for PSG.
