UMB partners McDan for West Africa Tennis Championship in Accra

Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) has partnered with McDan Shipping to organize the 2017 McDan Open West Africa Championship scheduled to begin at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, April 24.
The bank announced their partnership during a press briefing in Accra as the official bank for the event as part of efforts to promote tennis in the country.
 
Speaking at the press briefing, Director of Marketing and Communications at UMB, Yvonne Botchwey said the bank wish to associate with the sports considering their core value which is speed.
 
Speed, she said could be linked with tennis, which is at the center of the bank's operations adding that the partnership would help in the growth of the sport in the country.
 
"We are also committed to healthy living, exercise and fan and therefore committed to working with McDan to organize the championship in the country", she stated.
 
On his part, Mr. Jeffery Odammey Yeboah also of UMB, said the bank would support the sport to ensure that great talents are nurtured to become world champions in future.
 
"The likes of Serena Williams could emerge from our part of the country with the needed support and dedication", he stated.
 
He reiterated the value of speed and urged all the players to ensure that they employ speed to achieve laurels in the competition.
 
Tournament organizer, Nathaniel Attoh expressed appreciation to UMB for coming on board to support the event adding that, the partnership would be sustained to ensure the development of tennis.
 
The tournament he said, would create an attractive platform for young talents to showcase their skills.
 
"This is a great partnership that would help in raising champions and putting them on the platform to inspire others,"he stressed.
 
He also urged the Ghanaian participants to ensure they win the event as last year's event was dominated by Nigerians.
 
The competition would begin on Monday, April 24 to April 29 with $3,000 for the ultimate winner with other consolation prizes available.
