Coach of the national team, the Black Stars, Avram Grant says they must beat Egypt in their last group game on Wednesday though Ghana has already qualified to the next stage of the competition.
“Our life is not dependent on the next game against Egypt but would want to win every game while targeting the quarter finals,†he stated.
He recalled that Ghana dominated their last encounter in the World Cup qualifiers against Egypt but lost the game and needs to approach the game differently to win.
“It won’t be a one-sided game, and they know how to play. Even if it’s not important on paper, we will do well to win the game,†he stressed.
Coach Avram Grant is expected to rest most of his key players against Egypt but he believes the game is also important.
According to him, the key players would also require more playing time to get to their best form as the competition gets to crucial levels and their services and experience would be required.
“Any team we play at this level and beyond will be strong and need the best squad to face them and win. The key players did not play for their clubs in the last six months and need games. Will analyze and see which players to use,†he stated.
He admitted that the fitness level of the key players is not at the highest level and that has resulted in the narrow wins.
“But they gave everything and I admire them. Gyan who scored in the last game, has not played 90 minutes for a very long time but he is used to playing 90 minutes. Dede Ayew all his life is also used to playing 90 minutes but did not do this year because he was injured. They gave everything for the country. You cannot even pick out one player who did not fight like crazy for his country,†he stated.
The spirit in camp he said is very good and the players are ready to give their all adding that the winning mentality also important.
