The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has identified about 300 enterprises to be developed across the length and breadth of the country as part of its one-district-one-factory policy.

Nana Akufo-Addo while touring the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, Mfantseman and Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese constituencies in the Central Region in June, this year announced that when elected as the president, his government was going to set up a factory in each district as part of plans to industrialise Ghana's economy.

Many including policy think tank have criticised the feasibility of the policy with ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) describing it as a mere campaign promise which was only conceived to deceive voters.

But speaking on Thursday during his second Ashanti Regional tour, Nana Akufo-Addo hinted that the party was not joking with the promise and had already prepared a list to that effect.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Nhyira FM'S Kofi Asante, he said an NPP team has been up to the task in making a short-list of the facories to be built by the party, taking into consideration the need of every district.

"The NPP has the men to execute the plan", he maintained without giving any further details while sitting with Member of Parliament for Kwadaso, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto; Ashanti regional Chairman of the party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako also known as ‘Wontumi’; Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku; and Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng; both former ministers in the Kufuor administration.
