Special voting had 73% turnout - EC

Despite the discrepancies that riddled last Thursday's special voting exercise, nearly 73 percent of the expected voters duly cast their ballots.

The exercise which was to allow officers of the security agencies, officials of the EC and media personnel who were expected to be conducting official duties on the main election day to vote early came off widespread reports of voters not finding their names in the registers at their polling stations. 

According to provisional figures released by the EC on Saturday, out of the 126,875 names on the special voters list, a total of 92,231 representing 72.69 percent got the chance to vote.
