The Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON) in Gabon is over for Ghana defender Baba Rahman as the injury he suffered in Tuesday’s game will require serious medication attention.

The player according to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) will be sent to Germany today, for further medical attention which might end up in surgery.

Rahman suffered a bruised meniscus during the first half of Ghana’s game against Uganda and was stretched off as he could not continue the game. The Schalke 04 defender was on Wednesday sent to Gabonese capital, Libreville where tests were carried out but it seems the injury would require further attention.

The GFA has pledged to offer the player the necessary support as a team official would accompany the player to Germany. The GFA said in a statement that they 'will offer all the support to the dedicated and hardworking Baba Rahman on his road to recovery.'

However the 22-year-old might not return for the tournament if surgery is carried out to correct the injury.

The Black Stars would now rely on Frank Acheampong for defensive duties as he substituted Rahman after the injury and was remarkable.
