Much was expected from the host,Gabon but they failed to start the competition on a very bright note as they were held to a frustrating 1-1 drawn game in the opening match of this year’s Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON).

Star player and skipper, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang scored for the host in the 52nd minute but was a shadow of himself in the entire game as less was seen of the player.

Aubameyang was expected to carry the team on his shoulders but Guinea-Bissau markers had the best of the Dortmund striker.

Though the second half saw a better display from both sides, it was Guinea-Bissau who had the best smiles as they managed to secure a point courtesy a 90th minute strike from Juary Soares.

Gabon might exit the tournament at early as they face a tougher opposition in Cameroon and Burkina Faso.

In all, it was an average performance for both teams and fans would be looking forward to the next group game between Cameroon and Burkina Faso for some excitement.
