CEO of Ghana Digital Centres Kwadwo Baah Agyemang says the centres have created about 15,000 jobs.

Speaking at the Alumni Homecoming of the Private Universities Students Association of Ghana, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang said: "The Ghana Digital centres alone have helped create about fifteen thousand (15,000) jobs in Ghana. The innovation centre, including the mlab and ihub, which was set up by the Ministry of Communications with funding from The World Bank, have so far trained 10,000 youth in different digital training programmes."

"Again, about 5,000 youth have been trained at the Accra Digital Centre, in collaboration with the Rockefeller Foundation, National Youth Authority and other stakeholders. The mlab and ihub have incubated and supported 1,300 Start-Ups in various technology incubation and acceleration programmes," he added.

Kwadwo Baah Agyemang also disclosed that the government has decided to build similar centres across the traditional 10 regions of the country.

"Mr. chairman, government, through the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization, has decided to build similar digital centres in all the traditional 10 regions in Ghana. These facilities will include the operationalization of Regional Innovation Centres with all its components. These projects will help spread and enhance the digitization programme in Ghana, and also help train future leaders in cutting-edge technology. The Ghana Digital Centres also plan of constructing a high-rise office space with other facilities to meet the demands of technology start-ups and other digital programmes and projects. Just last week, GDCL in collaboration with National Service are coming to roll up a program which will create IT solution jobs for service personnel after their tenure."
