Golden Star Bogoso named Mining Company of the Year

Golden Star Bogoso has been named the country’s Mining Company of the year - 2017.

The company was presented the award at the 2017 edition of the Ghana Mining Industry Awards, organized by the Chamber of Mines.

According to the Mines Chamber, Goldstar Bogoso Prestea won the award on the basis of its commitment to good mining practices and corporate social responsibility – as evidence in its investment in its host communities.

Meanwhile, Daniel Owiredu - Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer of Golden Star was adjudged the Mining Personality of the Year (male category) and Mary Anita Appianin of the AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine won the female Mining Personality of the Year.

Other winners at the event included, Newmont Golden Ridge Limited in Akyem adjudged Best in Environmental Management; Asanko Gold Limited - Best Performer in Exploration as well as, Ferdinand Ohene-Kena, Former Minister in the PNDC/NDC regime and former Chairman of the Minerals Commission who won the coveted Life Time achievement award.
