Supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asuogyaman Constituency of the Eastern Region have been warned against seizing the Adomi Bridge.

The NPP's celebrations of their victory in last Wednesday's general elections have been riddled with acts of violence with some supporters reportedly attacking members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) while others have been locking up or taking over state properties.

In this vein, some NPP youth in Asuogyaman were said to have given workers on the bridge up to January 7 to vacate the toll booths.

But according to the NPP's constituency secretary, Eric Boadu, the party was against such acts and would not shield any supporter who seizes a state facility.

“We have warned our supporters not to engage in any act of violence. We will not allow them to go there in the first place to take over the bridge and should anyone fall foul of the law will be dealt with by the Police”, he stated in an interview on Starr FM on Tuesday.
