Mad woman's infant daughter stolen in Takoradi

The Department of Social Welfare in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis is currently searching for  newly born baby girl belonging to a mentally-deranged woman in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis who has been reported stolen.

 

The search comes after Paa Kwesi Simpson, a senior staff of Takoradi-based Skyy Media Group, drew the attention of the department to the incident.

According to the Department of Social Welfare in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Area (STMA), all efforts to trace the individual who has taken custody of the baby have proven futile.

Madam Deborah Kwabea, head of the department,  disclosed that when news of the baby got to the department, she dispatched officers to the premises of Mrs Cudjoe Maternity Home, where the baby was reportedly taken to by some passersby, but, “unfortunately, when our officers went there, they were told the baby has not been brought to the home.”

“This means that something has happened somewhere. Currently, we are looking for people who would volunteer information so that we trace the whereabouts of the baby," she added. 

According to information gathered, this was the second time in four years, that the mentally-derailed woman believes to be in her 40s had given birth to a bouncy baby girl in Takoradi.

The woman, residents said,  who was seen openly cuddling the baby and feeding her with dirty water from a nearby gutter st rapped the baby behind her back and entered a nearby bush after realising a crowd had formed around her but was pursued by some in the crowd and the baby was supposedly taken to a maternity home for proper care and attention but had

According to them, this is second time the same woman has given birth. On the first occasion, some people who are believed to be relatives of the woman came for the baby, The Finder reported
