Mahama lays wreath at Jubilee House in honour of helicopter crash victims

A solemn flower-laying ceremony was being held on August 7, 2025, at the Jubilee House in honour of the eight victims of the tragic military helicopter crash.

President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Members of the Council of State, family members, friends, government officials, members of the security services, and the general public, all of whom laid wreaths to pay their respects to the fallen heroes.

 

The ceremony marked the beginning of a three-day national mourning period declared by President Mahama to honour the memory of the deceased, which includes two senior government officials—Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed—as well as senior military personnel and party officials.

The three-day mourning period will conclude on Saturday, 9 August, with an "Evening of Reflections and Memorials" at the Forecourt of the State House.
