PAC seeks clarity on YEA rent payments to K&A facility manager

The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament has raised pertinent questions on the astronomical increase in rent payments made by the Youth Employment Agency between 2023 and 2024.

The ongoing 2024 Auditor-General’s Report probe revealed that, YEA has paid Ghc 5.5 million in 2024 on rent as compared to Ghc3.2 in 2023 which represents 72.5percent increment.

In furtherance, Management response indicates that, the Ministry of Works and Housing engaged K& A as a facility manager. PAC noted further, the rent was paid by YEA directly to K & A company instead of the Ministry of Works and Housing.

PAC members also raised concerns regarding the infraction on annual service charges.

The Chief Executive Officer of YEA, Malik Basintale, stated that his outfit will comply with the recommendations from the Audit report and find a permanent facility to avoid payment of rent. He explained that Gh5.5 paid to K& A as rent could have been used to create jobs for the youth
